Sunbeams

The monsoon weather in Arizona is in full swing now.  The clouds and light danced around the desert as weather conditions changed throughout the day and evening.  These images were taken before sunset showing the many beams of light in the sky and the light that spread over Piestewa Peak and a portion of the McDowell Mountains today, August 2, 2014.

Sunbeam:
Poem by Anna Akhmatova
23 June 1889 - 5 March 1966 / Odessa

I pray to the sunbeam from the window -
It is pale, thin, straight.
Since morning I have been silent,
And my heart - is split.
The copper on my washstand
Has turned green.
But the sunbeam plays on it
So charmingly.
How innocent it is, and simple,
In the evening calm,
But to me in this deserted temple
It's like a golden celebration
And a consolation.
